DiCarlo Chiropractic Center New Patient Center
Your First Visit to our St. Charles Practice
When you come for your first visit, if you haven’t downloaded and completed our admission forms from our website, you will be asked to complete the necessary forms before the doctor sees you. Your first visit will take about an hour.
Dr. Di Carlo will be conducting an in depth consultation of your current and past health-care history in addition to a comprehensive physical examination of the area of your main complaint. Once this is completed, the doctor will make some preliminary decisions as to whether or not your case will respond to chiropractic care.
If the doctor believes your current condition will be better served elsewhere, he will refer you to the appropriate health-care provider. If he believes yours is a chiropractic case, he will prescribe physical therapeutics to aid you in dealing with the discomfort that brought you into the office. At that point you will be released from care with home care instructions, and if necessary, a requisition to have x rays taken. Then you will be scheduled for your second visit.
We Explain Everything First
The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem.
Patients appreciate that we explain everything in advance!
Your Second Visit to our St. Charles Practice
After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we’ll make recommendations designed to help you get and keep your health. We call this the Report of Findings.
We will then lay out a plan of care for you. Once he is certain your are ready to begin care, he will give you your first adjustment to help your body begin the healing process.
This is usually attended to on your second visit, which may be later the same day or the following day. This two-visit approach accomplishes several things:
- Reduces the length of your first visit
- Gives us time to correlate our findings
- Avoids overloading you with too much information
In certain situations, we sometimes make exceptions. It just depends on your unique situation.
Regular Visits
After the investment of time needed on the first and second visits, many patients become concerned that every visit will be of equal length.
In a word: no. Regular office visits will take about 20 minutes from the time we greet you in the reception room until we schedule your next visit.
When you arrive, you will be asked to sign in, after which we’ll escort you to an adjustment room. Because Dr. Di Carlo performs myofascial trigger point therapy on most patients, patients are asked to put on a gown in the privacy of the closed-door adjustment room. To help you feel more comfortable, we ask that you bring a pair of shorts with you, if you so choose.
Once you a properly gowned, Beth will speak with you about the progress you have made toward wellness since your last visit. Dr. Di Carlo will then come into your room and talk with you about health related issue and deliver your adjustment. If your case warrants it, you will be given physical therapeutics such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound or traction
Before he leaves your room, he will entertain any questions you may have about your visit and care. He will then advise you about when you next visit should be. You will then return to your street clothes and visit the front desk to take care of scheduling your appointments and satisfy your financial obligations.
With the groundwork laid, we can quickly size up the condition of your spine and nervous system, adjust you and get you on your way. Like a regular workout at the gym, each visit builds on the ones before. Miss a visit and you can lose the momentum necessary to make the needed changes.
We recognize your time is valuable. So we do everything possible to run on time and minimize the impact on your busy life.
